it’s now very common to hear people say, “I’m rather offended by that”, as if that gives them certain rights. It’s no more than a whine. It has no meaning, it has no purpose, it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. “I’m offended by that.” Well, so fucking what?
i love this quote. i agree with it 100%, and i could not have said it better. i have offended people on, i think, a semi-regular basis, and although much of it was unintended, some of it was definitely intended. having said that, i think there’s a big difference between offending and hurting, but i don’t go out of my way to hurt people. that would be cruel, and cruel really isn’t my nature. i might be a little dark sometimes, but i’m actually kind of thoughtful and considerate.
keep that last bit to yourself, though. i have a reputation to maintain.
